Are Chevy Volts expensive to insure?
''it depends.'' The Volt typically costs about 50 percent more per year for liability coverage (the part of your policy that covers injuries you might cause) than non-luxury sedans like the Toyota Camry or Honda Accord, but about 40 percent less annually than comparable Audi A4s. However, the Volt is currently excluded from Collision coverage in most places (but check with your agent if you're interested).
Is the Chevy Volt expensive to fix?
Not really, if you compare it with its peers in the compact car category. The latest analysis from Autolist.com is that the Chevy Volt costs an average of $3,800 to fix when compared to cars from Audi, Subaru, and Volkswagen. It falls at number four when ranked by price to fix among compacts in a standard 40-item assessment.
Why is the Chevy Volt so cheap?
''The goal is to make this technology affordable for the average family,'' said Mary Barra, senior vice president for global product development, in an online chat with Gigaom in June. She was talking about the new generation of electric vehicles (EVs) that GM planned to launch in 2013. The Chevy Volt, which costs $41,000 when it comes off the production line at GM's Detroit-Hamtramck plant, would cost much less if it were not for GM's expensive safety features.
Is the Chevy Volt a reliable car?
I'll go out on a limb and say ''no.''
